What do you think will happen if a few million people come across your product when they are online? Nothing will happen if it’s not something they are interested in. They will look at it and within a few seconds it will be forgotten. If a few hundred people see your product and they are interested in it you would make a few sales. That tells you it’s better to target people who will actually want to buy your product, because a few million uninterested eyeballs doesn’t mean anything.
Focus on previous buyers
If you sell toilets you won’t be able to target previous buyers because they won’t buy another one for years, but if you sell toilet paper you would be crazy to target new customers rather than the ones who have already bought from you in the past. If someone has given you their money before it’s much easier to sell something to them again. If you sell a product that someone might need to replace on a weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis you should promote to previous buyers before anyone else.
Find the perfect price point
When you sell online it’s very easy to test out different price points, so it means if you’re smart enough you will make more money. Don’t just choose a random price for your products because that is an easy way to lose money. Let’s imagine you need to sell a product for $50 to break even. If you sell it at $100 you might make 10 sales per month, but if you sell it at $75 you make 100 sales per month. Even though you sell the product for a cheaper price you will end up with much more money.
